Data Governance Lead
Job Purpose
- The primary
objective of the position is to roll out a Data Governance Operating
Framework for Hollard Life Solutions, with a focus on improvement of data
governance and data quality through modifications of organization
behaviour, policies, standards, principles, governance metrics, processes,
related tools and data architecture.
- Collaborate with
Risk and Legal departments to interpret data-related acts and laws.
Translate compliance requirements to technical and business requirements
for IT and data stewards to action.
- Collaborate with
data stewards to analyse data for data quality issues and define
requirements for what quality measures needs to be tracked, define
acceptable data quality levels in conjunction with the business and define
rules that the company must use to ensure data is available, at the right
quality levels and accessed securely by authorised personnel.
- Manage,
investigate, and resolve data quality issues within enterprise
applications, using various techniques while safeguarding against data
loss.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and
implement a Data Governance Framework.
- Create data
governance processes and controls.
- Create data
governance policies and standards.
- Ensure that new
systems and/or applications adhere to existing data management practices,
policies, and procedures.
- Develop and
build relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a
liaison between business and functional areas and technology to ensure
that data related compliance and business requirements are clearly
defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of
operational prioritization and planning.
- Define
indicators of performance and quality metrics and ensure compliance with
data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption
requirements.
- Actively manage
data owners, data stewards and data custodian forums and content.
- Develop training
plans for data owners and data stewards.
- Continuously
evaluate data governance tools for suitability for company use.
- Produce data
governance reports and dashboards on a recurring basis.
- Enrol data
owners, data stewards and data custodians around active management of key
data issues.
- Manage
documentation as well as remediation of key data issues.
- Review data
remediation results and manage subsequent oversight of key data.
- Collaborate with
data stewards and data custodians on review and planning of key
information gaps which present challenges.
- Identify and
ensure the resolution of data quality issues, such as uniqueness,
integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness in a cost-effective and
timely fashion.
- Take a lead in
preventing data quality issues by identifying frequent user errors, and
working with business units to strengthen user competence
- Collaborate with
data stewards to perform data profiling on a regular basis and generate
data quality statistics. The results of these audits should be
communicated to business owner of the data and tied into service level
agreements (SLAs) between data entry personnel, IT, and the appropriate
business units.
- Devise,
coordinate, and conduct mass data-cleansing initiatives for the purposes
of purging and eliminating corrupt or redundant information from corporate
databases.
- Identify causes
of poor data quality, implement solutions and communicate findings to
employees, management, and stakeholders.
- Develop and
enforce methods and validation mechanisms for ensuring data quality and
accuracy at the point of entry.
- Work
collaboratively with the system architects to develop methods for
synchronizing data entering company systems from multiple points.
- Conduct research
and make recommendations on products, tools, services, protocols, and
standards that will support the data management strategy.
- Familiar with
POPI and other data related laws and compliance frameworks.
- Actively
participate in the Data & Analytics MANCO.
- Promote
collaboration amongst the different sub-teams in the Data & Analytics
team.
Required Knowledge and Experience
Required
Experience
- Minimum 5 years
of Data Governance operations, oversight function, risk measurement, or
managed data governance.
- Minimum 3 years
of Data Quality operations.
Required Knowledge and Skills

- Must have

- Strong ability
