Structural Engineer (KZN)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Detail design
and specification of structures comprising concrete, steelwork, or masonry
to meet client requirements and operational specifications.
- Detailed design
of civil foundations required for concrete or steelwork industrial
structures, building structures, plant and equipment, considering static
and dynamic loading conditions.
- Design and
specifications of structural steel connections based on loads and
application, for use by shop detailers, and subsequent checking of shop
drawings.
- Rebar design and
detailing for concrete structures and foundations.
- Condition
assessments on existing buildings and industrial structures, and technical
reporting.
- Development of
technical specifications, bills of quantities, and scope of works
documentation required for tender purposes.
- Feasibility
studies, concept designs, cost optioneering and development of plant
layouts.
- Assistance with
marketing activities including attendance of site briefings, development
of proposals and technical solution, as well as client engagement.
- Technical
coordination and communications with clients, contractors, architects,
draftsmen, specialist consultants, product suppliers, and other
engineering disciplines.
- Operating
relevant commercial software, were required to complete project
deliverables.
- Contribute to
the development, maintain, and enhance intercompany tools and standards to
streamline workflow and maximize efficiency.
- Site
inspections, investigations and monitoring as required to ensure technical
requirements, and specifications are met.
- Ensuring
compliance with Bosch Projects’ ISO 9001/2015 QMS, in terms of the
specific responsibilities.
The ideal candidate should:
- Have a BSc. Eng.
/ B.Eng. (Civil Engineering) or BTech Civil (Structures)
- Have a minimum
of five years work experience in the field of Structural Engineering
involving multi-disciplinary projects and developments.
- Have experience
in heavy industry (i.e. sugar, paper, port, and terminals).
- Have been
exposed to structures in the commercial building sector, and have a
working knowledge of building defects, their typical causes and
remediation.
- Have experience
in the use of software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Prokon, Revit and
AutoCad, or equivalent software used for structural modelling, analysis,
design, drafting and detailing. Experience with a rebar detailing package
would be beneficial.
- Possess a
thorough understanding of projects – engineering workflow, a broad
understanding of the other design engineering disciplines, i.e. Process,
Mechanical, Instrumentation and Electrical, and working knowledge of
applicable codes and standards.
- Have effective
interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Be prepared to
travel within and outside RSA borders.
