The Governing Council of the University is recruiting suitable candidates to fill the position below

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Laje Road, Ondo

Job Description

  • The University Registrar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of the University, who is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University, except for financial matters which fall within the purview of the Bursar.
  • The Registrar is also the Secretary to the Council, Senate, Convocation, Congregation and other statutory bodies as defined by the University Law.
  • He/ She shall also perform all other duties assigned to him/ her by the Council and/or the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.


  • The ideal candidate for the post of the Registrar, University of Medical Sciences, Ondo must possess a good (Honours) Degree in Arts, Humanities, Management or related discipline, not lower than a Second Class (Lower Division), a Master's degree plus at least fifteen (15) years post- qualification experience in the Nigerian University System.
  • Candidate must not be below the rank of Deputy Registrar and must have spent at least five (5) years at the Management level, with vast experience in administrative activities in a reputable Nigerian University.
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies is compulsory, i.e ANUPA, NIM,IPMA.
  • Due consideration will also be given to candidate with international experience and must not be older than 60 years of age by 5th January, 2025 when the position will become vacant.


  • The person who will be Registrar, given the complexity and scientific nature of the administrative processes of a 21st Century University, must not only be a goal-getter, but must also be able to show drive, exceptional initiative, great ability for institutional networking with the outside world and must have a suave mien that typifies a 21st Century world- class University.
  • He/she must be a person of proven integrity, possess high moral character, an excellent manager of human resources and a team player. He/she must be a person with proven leadership qualities and good interpersonal skills;
  • The job demands a person who can instill confidence in others, as well as command loyalty and respect of people;
  • The person must understand the complexity of a University system and be capable of harnessing the potentials of subordinates to attain the overall goal of the University;
  • He/she must be a person with an articulate Vision for the development of the University in general and the Registry in particular, combined with a strong passion to implement the Vision;
  • Must be of good physical and mental health, a pleasant disposition;
  • Must be up-to-date in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills;
  • Must be devoid of any criminal record; and
  • Must be able to demonstrate sagacity and wisdom in the face of crisis or undesirable situations.

Tenure of Office and Terms of Appointment

  • The Registrar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years in line with the University of Medical Science Law (2014).

Salary and Conditions of Service

  • The Remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the Post of Registrar of Public Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the State Government and the University Council as appropriate.
